Fishing Trips

White Sturgeon

Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia River is widely considered some of the best in the world! The Pacific Northwest—especially Oregon and Washington—boasts more keeper and oversized sturgeon than anywhere else on the planet. We typically target these giants from late March till early December. These prehistoric fish can reach astonishing lengths of 6 to 12 feet and weigh up to 1,000 pounds!

Sturgeon are ancient survivors, living for over a century and dating back to the age of dinosaurs. Catching them by the dozens each day makes the Columbia River one of the world’s premier sturgeon fisheries. With sharp, armor-like scoots along their sides and back, they’re well protected from natural predators such as seals and sea lions. Anglers use a variety of baits and travel to numerous prime locations along the river to hook into these true river giants.

Walleye

Experience some of the best walleye fishing in the nation right here on the legendary Columbia River. Known for producing both impressive numbers and trophy-size fish, this fishery offers action-packed days on the water and the chance to land walleye over 10 pounds — with true giants pushing 15 pounds or more.

At BrokenBack Sturgeon Fishing, we offer fully guided walleye trips designed for anglers of all experience levels. Whether you’re after a cooler full of tasty eaters or hunting for that once-in-a-lifetime trophy, we’ll put you in the right place at the right time.

The Columbia River is famous not only for its trophy-class walleye but also for its abundant population of “eaters” — perfect-sized fish in the 15–20 inch range that make some of the finest table fare in freshwater. These walleye are prized for their mild, flaky fillets and provide fast-paced action that’s ideal for family trips, group outings, or anyone looking to enjoy great fishing and a delicious reward at the end of the day.
